Under the direction of the Canadian Coast Guard, the Eastern Canada Spills Response Centre (ECRC) has completed the clean-up at the Suncor Energy Sarnia Refinery dock.
The ECRC conducted surveys of the southern shoreline of the St. Clair River Monday night and Tuesday morning, and did not observe any downstream impact. Suncor also conducted a walking survey of the shoreline earlier today, and found no evidence of oil or sheen on or between the rocks or in the river.
Suncor’s marine transport department and the ship’s owner, McAsphalt Marine Transportation, are treating this incident very seriously and will be completing a full investigation in conjunction with Transport Canada in order to prevent recurrence.

Sous la direction de la Garde côtière canadienne, la Société d'intervention maritime pour l'Est du Canada (SIMEC) a terminé les travaux de nettoyage au quai de la raffinerie Suncor Énergie à Sarnia.
Les vérifications de la ligne du rivage sud de la rivière St. Clair menées par la SIMEC la nuit dernière et ce matin n’ont pas révélé d’impact en aval. Des employés de Suncor ont aussi effectué une vérification plus tôt aujourd’hui en parcourant à pied le rivage, mais ils n’ont découvert aucune trace d’huile ou de film iridescent entre les roches ou dans la rivière.
Le service du transport maritime de Suncor et le propriétaire du navire McAsphalt Marine Transportation prennent cet incident très au sérieux et mèneront une enquête approfondie en collaboration avec Transports Canada afin d’éviter qu’une telle situation se reproduise.
